There are a multitude of businesses who lost-out because they chose not to adapt with technology. But the same will happen again if businesses don’t consider the uprising of mobile browsing.

After our final day at the Code Web Directions Conference in Melbourne, we were blown away with what we had heard over the past two days. There were so many great speakers and such exciting things happening in our industry, it was a very inspirational event. (As are all web directions events)

Last night Adam and Flynn attended the 2013 What Do you Know? Event in Brisbane as part of the Web Directions series of events in Australia. Hive Web Studio co-sponosred the event with SilverStripe and Adam was invited to speak about our certified partner relationship with SilverStripe and our involvement with the CMS.

Reminds me of this classic scene on The IT Crowd - Uh hh someone typed 'google' in to google, the internet is broken!
So its funny where we have put our trust and made our selves so vulnerable, the well liked Facebook like button caused untold issues and pretty much brought down the entire internet.
There was a bug in the button that redirected any page that had the button on it to Facebook and then display an error page. This has to make you think how much of a risk is this to your site? Loading external Javascript into your site is always a risk, however have we all thought it through?
This could create some interesting discussion over the coming weeks, and could change the way web professionals do things.

Over the past decade we have seen the web become the primary source for people to gather information and make purchases. Similarly, we have also seen a huge increase in the smart phone market, when we combine these two we find ourselves in the time of the mobile web. Consumers are now picking up their smartphones to browse the web, not waiting till they have access to their computer.

We have recently been awarded the Silver Certificaiton from Greenbizcheck for our ongoing effort to becoming a sustainable company. After being awarded the Bronze Certification last year, the team had their eyes set on moving up to Silver this year. This certification is an internationally recognised and ISO 14001 verified, most importantly, its something our team is very proud of.

Last night was meant to start a revolution for group online sales in Australia. Now it will be a night remembered as one of the biggest fails for online retail in Australian history, due to poor technology planning and not managing consumer expectations.
